Do you wonder what to pack for a safari in Kenya East Africa? You’re in the right place. I went on a safari two years ago and the experience was most enjoyable. But I wish I knew then what to bring or wear on the safari.

I look forward to another safari adventure in 2019 and here is what I’ll bring and what I recommended you wear on a safari in Kenya, East Africa. The most common itinerary for game-drives takes place early in the morning before sunrise and in the late afternoon. Generally, for game viewing, wear muted colors. To blend in with the environment, plan on wearing khaki, green, beige and neural colors and dress comfortably. If you live in the USA, you can buy these items at REI, GAP or on Amazon. Because it can get quite chilly in the early morning and late afternoon, bring a jacket and perhaps even a light blanket to stay warm and cozy.

Here is a comprehensive list of what to wear on a Safari in Kenya

Hello Bonnie and thank you for your kind feedback.Though you didn’t have this list, I sure hope you had a lovely Safari in Cape town, South Africa.

I didn’t know what to pack on my first Safari adventure and ended up carrying a lot of camouflage clothing which is not recommended. Talk of standing out instead of blending in with nature. #travelwithirine

Plastic bags are illegal in Kenya?? Like grocery type bags? Or ziplocs? I like to use those when I travel. Never heard this before!

      Hello Kacie,

Thank you for your question. Kenya passed this law in August 2017 joining other African countries such as Rwanda, Mauritania and Eritrea. This came into effect in order to protect the environment, plastics are non-bio-degradable and cause pollution. According to the Kenya Ministry of Environment, plastic bags will be confiscated at Kenya airport. This includes ziplocs and duty free plastic bags. Most travels visiting Kenya are now using reusable bags instead.

I think this is a great environment and friendly travel idea.
