On Saturday 10/6/2018, I set a new hiking record for myself. I woke up at 3 in the morning, got ready, and off on the road at 3:30 a.m. for a day hike near Mt. Baker Highway, a 3-hour drive from Seattle, Washington. This would be my third solo hike.
My first stop of the day was at Picture Lake, where I was able to watch the sunrise. Picture Lake is one of the most photographed spots in the Pacific Northwest and a perfect day hike near Mt. Baker Highway.
After taking in the sunshine, I drove to Artist Point, parked my car and got ready to start my hike to the Chains Lake Loop. I started hiking at 8:40 a.m. and I was back in my car at 12:20 p.m. from my hike at Chains Lakes Loop. Still energized and having some fuel left to burn, I decided to go on a second hike at Lake Ann, another excellent day hike near Mt. Baker Highway.
But first, rested while I charged my phone and enjoyed a sandwich. Right at 1:15PM, I was out of my car ready to hike Lake Ann. Artist Point, ended up being a strategic spot as it was only a 10 minutes’ walk to Lake Ann trailhead.
I put on my backpack and was off to another adventure. I quickly stopped at Artist Ridge Huntoon Point to take pictures of the magnificent view of Mt Baker and the surroundings. Started the hike to Lake Ann at 1:30 p.m. and finished at 5:50.
Started the hike to Lake Ann at 1:30 p.m. and finished at 5:50.
I still had a long drive back home and chose not to wait and watch the sunset. Left Mt. Baker at 6:40 p.m. and I arrived in Seattle right at 9:40 that evening. Have you ever gone on a day hike near Mt. Baker Highway? If so where?
