Do you like to travel? Are you interested in outdoor activities such as hiking or camping? I certainly am. Welcome to my platform, Travel with Irine. Glad you stopped by.
My name is Irine and I describe myself as an adventure-loving, travel photographer and digital content creator. I am originally from Kenya, Africa and now I reside in Seattle, Washington. I also call Rwanda my third home. The Land of a Thousand Hills stole my heart when I visited back in 2017.

Curious how I started my hiking journey?
In 2017, a dear friend, Linda invited me to go on a hike with her and I had a fantastic time. Ever since then I’ve been hooked. When I was younger most of my activities and chores involved tons of walking. So being out and about was fun for me. Ahh, but hiking in the cold is another story!
After going on a couple more hikes, I noticed I didn’t see a lot of people hiking who looked like me. I also noticed a lack of diversity in the imagery of outdoors magazines on the Africa diaspora or of black women doing outdoor activities. I wanted to change that. And so, Travel with Irine was born.
Then in 2018, I met Emily, a super woman who I’m happy to call a dear friend. I learned so much that year as we hiked all over Washington State and beyond. If we were not hiking in pitch darkness on a sunrise hike, we were driving 2-3 hours in darkness to get a head start on our 10-mile hike. Those experiences inspired and motivated me to begin solo hiking, when in 2019 my partner in crime, Emily moved. Since then, I started adventuring in the outdoors on solo hikes, but I am also excited and open to group hikes. And there you have it, my short and long story of how I got started hiking and how Travel with Irine was born.
When I am not exploring the outdoors, I enjoy making soap from scratch as a hobby (sorry, not for sale) or sometimes I stow away crafting children’s books. In a nutshell, I am a weekend hiker, travel blog enthusiast, artistic soap designer, and writer.
