5 Things you need to know before you visit to Dubai

Here are some helpful tips on things you need to know before you visit Dubai.

1. If you have a USA passport, you can get a visa on arrival at no cost. I arrived on a Sunday at 5:30 a.m. and it took only 5 minutes to get through customs. From exiting the plane to my taxi, it took me only 15 minutes. Totally awesome

2. It’s very hot, almost the same as Las Vegas if not hotter. This means you need to pack light clothes.

3. Smoking indoors is allowed and permitted in some establishment. All five of the bars and lounges I went to allowed people to smoke inside!

4. Contrary to what you might have heard about Dubai, you can wear ordinary clothes. As a first time visitor, I dressed very conservatively. Not only did I look over dressed, I was so hot I thought I’d have a heat stroke. If you go to the inner parts of the city, wear what’s appropriate; that’s why I suggest you carry coveralls just in case.

5. Because Dubai is a tourist destination, drinking is allowed in most bars. Dubai is a vibrant city, similar to Las Vegas, but even more insanely extravagant. When l was in Dubai, all five bars I visited served alcohol.
